Pasture Grazed Free Range
At a stocking density of just 1,250 hens per hectare, our hens enjoy the freedom to do what they love best. This means:
More room for natural behaviours like scratching, dust bathing, and foraging
Reduced crowding and stress
Better pasture condition compared with higher-density systems
Lower risk of feather pecking and aggressive behaviour
-
Our hens are given access to the Outdoor Range each and every day. This area is managed to ensure bird safety and encourage them to dust bathe and forage and express their natural behaviours. Overhead cover is located throughout the range to provide shade and protection during the day.
-
Inside the sheds, our hens have access to perches that are constructed to support their keel bone and feet.
Perches allow hens to:
Roost at night
Escape more aggressive birds
Rest comfortably
Express natural behaviours
-
Environmental enrichment improves our hens physical health, provides mental stimulation and allows them to perform natural behaviours. hanging objects inside the sheds allow hens to peck and forage which reduces stress and provides stimulation. Access to dust bathing and straw bales helps our hens to clean themselves and maintain cleaner plumage.
-
Our hens have uninterrupted access to feed and water and our low stocking density inside the shed allows each bird to freely access feed and water. An all natural diet with no antibiotics or other nasties mean our hens can maintain their health.
